Katy Perry opted for a 90s gothic twist with her Blumarine dress for her 2012 Billboard Awards red carpet look on Sunday.
Celebrity makeup artist Todd Delano used Lancôme products to line and define her eyes, contour her cheeks and plump up her pout with a rich wine-colour.

Still on Cannes Festive'
onam Kapoor finally took to the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival for the closing ceremony and the ‘Therese Desqueyroux’ premiere this evening in her ambassador role for L’Oreal
She looks disappointed,
Sonam doesn’t quite have enough presence to pull off this dark, mysterious tulle embroidered gown for me. Especially when paired with simple black pumps.
Where’s the excitement? Where is the story? Where is the danger?
Even with the red pout, it just falls a bit flat and lacks intrigue for me.

Best of Cannes Film Festive (red carpet'12)

After a few days of eye candy, Cannes Film Festival has sadly come to an end.
We had several hits, a few misses and a big disappointment.

Eva Longoria lived up to her ‘Eva the Diva’ tag which we gave her back in 2009. She may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but she lights up the Cannes red carpet like no other.

As I have listed my favourites day by day, I have just listed my top 3 from the event above.

WIZARD OF OZ fashion role

As you may have seen, our tumblr theme today is WIZARD OF OZ. And it got us thinking, if the characters from Oz were real-life people today, which designer would they favor? We did a quick review of some of our favorite runway shows for Spring 2012 and it all became clearer than the Witch of the West’s crystal ball.

TRENDING ON THE RED CARPET: THE WHITE SLIT DRESS

The red carpet choices of four very different women converged this week, making a strong argument for the white slit dress. On Monday, Anja Rubik set tongues wagging with her daringly high-cut Anthony Vaccarello gown at the Met Ball. Claire Danes attended the same event in a more feminine J. Mendel gown, but it, too, had a slit. The following night, Kate Middleton surprised at the Thirty Club’s annual dinner in London in a demure Roland Mouret gown—with a sexy thigh-high slit. And Rihanna rounded out the bunch last night atBattleship‘s Los Angeles premiere in a leg-baring Adam Selman number. Given its red carpet frequency in the span of a week, the style is having a moment—perhaps not easily translatable in the every day, but given that it’s wedding season, inspiration for the unconventional bride?

Oreo Balls RECIPE

Oreo Balls

Ok so my favorite cookies are Oreos! Mmm... there's nothing like a handful of Oreos and a cold glass of milk.

A few years ago my mom and I tried this recipe for Oreo Balls. Talk a
bout heaven in your mouth! They are delicious. You can never eat just one! They remind me of truffles but taste soooo much better!

So here is the SUPER EASY recipe for Oreo Balls...

First, your ingredients. You'll need a standard size carton of Oreos, 1 block of cream cheese, and some white chocolate or bark. Normally we use white almond bark or white chocolate chips but I'm making these for a family with nut allergies so I'm being very careful. Oh, and we are all for generic products in this family but this is just one of the recipes you can't skimp on. The taste just isn't the same.

Next, blend the Oreos, a little at a time, in a food processor or blender. You can pound them by hand but it takes FOREVER. Sometimes some of the cookies don't chop all the way. Just throw them in with the next batch.

When you finish turning the cookies into a fine crumble, add the block of cream cheese. This is where things get MESSY! Mix the cream cheese and Oreo crumbs until you get a dough. I've tried spoons, pastry cutters, everything. Nothing seems to beat my God-given hands for this part. On the plus side, your hands feel really smooth after :)
You should get a dough like this. This is actually a double batch (2 packages of Oreos, 2 blocks of cream cheese).
After that, you'll need to roll the dough into about quarter size balls. The number of balls you get will depend on the size you make them. I got about 150 from 2 batches so about 75 from one. Then toss them in the refrigerator for a little bit to get cool. They're easier to dip in the white chocolate that way.

While they chill in the fridge, start melting the chocolate/bark. Remember to do it a few seconds at a time so you don't burn or overcook it. Once it's nice and melted, drop an Oreo ball in, coat it in the chocolate, then place it on wax paper to cool. It's important to use wax paper as it peels off the best when it's hardened. Let them cool before removing to a serving plate.
Now you have delicious Oreo Balls! I throw mine in the fridge because they taste yummy when they're cool but they are just fine at room temperature too. Be sure to keep them covered though or toss them in a plastic bag so they last. Although, they might not make it a whole day once you taste them ;)

These are always a great hit at parties and stuff. My family can't get enough of them either!

Hope you enjoy!

Rainbow Cake RECIPE

Recipe

The cake recipe?  Two boxes of white cake mix.  Total cheat city.  But you know what?  That’s ok.  With this type of cake, where there are other details and things to take care of, I think it’s perfectly fine to cheat.  I happened to use Pillsbury (with pudding in the mix), but am sure any would do, as would a cake from scratch, of course.

Preparation

1. Follow the directions on the cake mix, mixing the two boxes and associated ingredients together in one big bowl.
2. Divide the batter amongst six bowls so you can color the batter.
3. Now for the color.  For these vibrant colors, you can’t use regular food coloring because it makes colors that are too pale.  You need icing color, which is much more concentrated (Wilton makes some, for example).  You need lots less and it goes much  farther.  You can find it in cake decorating aisles of stores like Michael’s and AC Moore (usually sold in a small box of 8-10 small containers of different colors).  You really need just a speck or two of the color in each bowl.  Add more as desired to get the shade you want.
4.  Put the batter into six round 8inch cake pans (you can back them 3 at a time if you only have so many pans) that have been lightly greased.  It worked out to roughly 1-1/4 cup of batter in each pan.
5.   Bake at the oven temperature specified for your particular mix, but because the layers are a bit smaller, the time in the oven needs to be adjusted.  Start checking the cake at about 12 minutes.  Mine were done at around 14 minutes.
6.  While the cakes are cooling, make your frosting.  When the cakes are cooled, cut off a thin bit of cake from each top so your layers are very flat.  Since they tend to dome a smidge when baking, if you don’t level it a bit, the cake will topple over in no time flat since we’re building it so high.
7. For the frosting, I used buttercream, my favorite.  I spread a thin layer of frosting in between each cake layer, and then all over the tops and sides.

If rainbows aren’t your thing, you can switch this up in a variety of different ways.  I’ve made a red, white and blue version to celebrate Fourth of July festivities and a multi-pink hued one to celebrate one of my daughter’s birthdays.  Once you know the basics, you are only limited by your imagination.

Belgian Waffle RECIPE

    Belgian Waffle recipe 1:
              Ingredients:
  •  4medium eggs
  • Vanilla sugar
  • one sachet (7g) instant dried yeast
  • whole milk (you can also add some sparkling mineral water and make them even fluffier)
  • two sticks (1/2 lb. — 250g) butter
  • 3 1/4 cups (1 lb. — 500g) all purpose flour
  • salt (as needed)
Preparation:
  • Heat a cup of milk at a medium flame until it is warm. Then, mix this warm milk with yeast. After that, stand it for sometime.
  • During this mean time, liquefy the butter, but stop as soon as it melts. Don’t over heat or burn butter because it will lose the taste of butter.
  • From the egg whites, separate the egg yolks and beat the egg whites until you get snow.
  • Then, take a big giant huge bowl and in this bowl add all the flour, vanilla sugar (one sachet) and some salt. Create a hole in the middle of the flour and fill it with melted butter, dissolved yeast and egg yolk.
  • In above mixture, add previously prepared mixture of yeast and milk. Mix it very well so no lump formation will take place. Add milk until the dense should the dough.
  • Now, mix the beaten egg whites into the dough.
  • Depart the dough to rest and rise at room temperature until the volume of the dough doubles or even triples.
  • To grease the waffle iron (which should be hot), use oil so, your waffles don’t stick to it and then pour the dough in it. Bake this mixture, until they turn golden brown.
Belgian Waffle recipe 2:
Ingredients:
  1. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  2. 2 c. heavy cream
  3. 2 tbsp. superfine sugar
  • For Waffle Batter:
    • 4 egg yolks
    • 1 1/2 c. milk
    • 1/2 c. melted butter
    • 4 egg whites
    • Pinch of salt
    • 1 1/4 c. sifted cake flour
    • 2 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/4 c. sugar
    • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Preparation:
  • First of all, flog the first three ingredients and place them in refrigerator to chill.
  • Then, preheat a waffle iron.
  • Onto a piece of waxed paper, sieve the flour, baking powder, 1/4 c. sugar, and salt together.
  • Lightly beat the egg yolks and then add the milk, vanilla and melted butter in it. Left this mixture in to the dry ingredients and stir it for just enough to combine.
  • Beat the egg whites in a separate clean bowl until they are stiff but not dry and fold them into the batter gently.
  • Then, bake this mixture in a seasoned waffle iron at medium heat until the steam stops escaping.
  • With confectioner’s sugar, dust the baked waffles and top it with whipped cream. You can also put sliced strawberries or peaches on top for garnishing.
Belgian Waffle recipe 3:
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • Fruit of your choice
  • 2 tablespoons confectioner sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • Whipped cream
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
Preparation:
  • Mix the flour, baking powder, confectioner sugar, oil, milk and egg yolks.
  • Thrash the egg whites until they stand in soft peaks and fold into the batter (do not overmix).
  • Pour 1/8 of the mixture into a hot waffle iron by using a 4-ounce scoop. Then, bake it for about 2 minutes.
  • Repeat the same procedure with remaining batter.
  • Finally, garnish it with the fruit and whipped cream and serve hot.

Raspberry Cheese Cake RECIPE

INGREDIENTSThe basic ingredients for the cheese cake are shown below.
Ingredients for raspberry cheesecake
For illustration only, use the ingredients list below.
MetricImperial
600 g full fat soft cheese (cream cheese)1 lb 5 oz full fat soft cheese (cream cheese)

2 tablespoons of plain flour
1 tablespoon of icing sugar
4 drops of vanilla extract
WHAT SPECIAL KITCHEN EQUIPMENT?One 20 cm (8 in) round non-stick baking tin with a removable base or sides.
A sieve.

PREPARATION
Turn the oven on, setting it to 180°C / 350°F / Gas Mark 4.
Crush the biscuits in a food processor or place them in a bag and crush with a rolling pin.
Separate one yolk from an egg.
Cream cake base of crushed biscuitsMelt the butter on a medium heat until it is runny. Take it off the heat and mix in the crushed biscuits using a fork.
Place the mixture in the baking tin and firm it down using your hands. Make sure the base of the tin is covered to an even depth.

Place the baking tin in the oven and bake for seven minutes. Remove it from the oven to cool.

Uncooked cheesecake mixture
Place the cream cheese, eggs, egg yolk, soured cream, flour, caster sugar and vanilla essence. Mix them all together with a fork, Do this vigorously for about 5 minutes.
Add half of the raspberries and mix them in. Pour into the baking tin and bake for 40 minutes.

The cheesecake is properly cooked when the edges are firm and the centre is set but not yet firm. Place it to one side to cool.

Raspberry juicePlace half of the remaining raspberries and icing sugar in a pan on a medium heat. Stir frequently with a fork until the raspberries turn almost to a liquid.
Pour the mixture into a sieve with a bowl below. This will remove the pips. Press the mixture into the sieve with a spoon to remove all the juice.

The cheese cake will probably still be slightly warm so place in the fridge (with the container of raspberry juice) for half an hour.
Pour the raspberry juice over the cheese cake then top it all off with the remaining raspberries. Place back in the fridge until ready to serve.
